(flights every day with stopover in Istanbul, starting 250 EUR return to Tehran)
Turkish Airlines

For most nationalities, you can apply for a visa upon arrival in Tehran IKA Airport. If you stay in Iran for less that 30 days, you will not need to apply for a visa in advance, and can get one on arrival at Tehran Airport (Fees currently: 50 USD). Make sure that you passport is still valid for 6 months, and that you don’t have an Israeli stamp in it. Contact Shermin for more information.
Currently, US, UK & Canadian citizens have strict visa regulations. They need to be accompanied by a certified iranian tour guide at all times while in Iran & follow a predetermined and nonchangable travel itinerary, which makes flexible individual travel impossible. Visa procedures take up to 2 months. It is quite likely that these regulations will be changed over the scope of the next months since the sanctions are being lifted, but you would have to wait and see.

The idea to this Desert Festival was born when Shermin first visited Meser Desert and was introduced to Maziar’s mesmerizing music. The first Desert Music was held in October 2015.

Maziar Ale Davoud
born in 1967 in Hamedan. After fighting in the Iran/Irak war as a soldier in Khuzestan, he studied pottery which he later taught for many years at Tehran’s Saad Abad Complex. 15 years ago Maziar decided to leave Tehran for Garmeh, an oasis village in the central Iranian desert, where he had spent his childhood. He rebuilt an old house which subsequently became the first guest house in Irans desert Ateshooni Guest House.Maziar is a self taught musician who plays all kinds of instruments: daf, dammam, tombak, kouzeh, didjeridoo. He has performed at many iranian & international music events. Among others he was invited to Qonia music festival in 2007 for Molana’s anniversary, and to ‘Fabelhaft Festival’ in Austria in 2013.

Shermin Voshmgir
born in 1974 in Vienna, Shermin is an Austrian/Iranian Artist KAKIKATSE who lives in Berlin and runs her own travel company. She got her PhD in IT Management in Vienna and studied film and drama in Madrid. Among others her films have screened in Cannes and at dOCUMENTA(13). She is the founder of auto.diktata collective of self taught, autodidact artists who believe that you can learn everything from and within yourself and your own peergroup. Shermin also now runs her own travel company Lilon Travel, focused on off the beaten track experiences & is the founder of the BlockchainHub.
